What began with the simple, yet magical process of sowing seeds grew into something much larger. Their gardens became a source of nourishment, inspiration, and a deeper connection to the seasons—eventually shaping the way they cook, gather, and welcome others.

The name Provender was inspired by a passage in one of Kurt’s favorite books, The Wind in the Willows, and its celebration of simple pleasures—fondness for nature, enjoyment of food, friendship, and time spent together.

The garden remains at the heart of Provender Garden Kitchen, inspiring ingredients, menus, and the changing details of each season. Today, that story continues in the heart of Berryville, where Kurt and Jodi have created an intimate, kitchen-centered space for sharing the food they love, welcoming guests personally, and carrying the spirit of the garden into a new setting.
